I’ve just spent the last week doing my first and I think final play through of this game. I was so excited for this game it was ridiculous, I even brought the lavish edition! I just want to share my own personal opinion on it!
So you start out receiving a package of some glasses that can bring household items alive and it started out pretty fun going around and meeting these different types of character! I have my personal favourites I loved Betty (the bed), Volt and Eddie(Electric box), Freddy the yeti (Fridge) and lastly Holly (decorations).
These are just my top 4 that I absolutely adore there character designs were unique and I really loved them. There personalities were truly some of the best in game. Eddie and Volt also reminded me of Loki from The Avengers (volt) and Bucky Barnes (Eddie) so I think that also added to my love for them. Betty was just a really pretty character design and had a lovely gentle personality and was also confident and I love that in a character. Freddy was just so fun he made me laugh a few times and he was just in my personal opinion really sweet and I liked being called “Cool Kid”. (Bear in mind I’m 30 years old it just made me happy). And then Holly she was just a whole ray of sunshine and also kinda relatable (I won’t say because I’m trying to avoid spoiling too much). You could tell the devs really put effort in but they did for all the characters like I said these are just my favourites
Alas we come to gameplay it’s very repetitive which is kind of to be expected when playing a game like this but at times it was starting to feel like a chore and when some characters didn’t have like a fun interactive story it bored me in places. I had to take breaks a few times because I have ADHD anyway so when it became to repetitive I took myself out of it because I didn’t want to sully my experience. Coming into game play as well was the fact I had the Lavish edition and it includes a unique game mechanic. In comes Lucinda Lavish
Ah Lucinda Lavish loved her character design (I have a soft spot for red heads) and I loved some of her one liners but a big annoyance was when you tried to speak to a specific item she’d insert herself and waste you little heart stamina thing you get every in game day and that to me personally started to annoy me especially when I wanted specific characters. To me personally it just became annoying but on the plus side on after a certain amount she does go away. So that is a plus!
Overall it was really fun and I got mainly love ends with only a few hate ends with characters so I couldn’t make Skylar real and I don’t think I could put myself through another full play through for said characters. What does interest me is getting the collectables but that’s for another time and maybe getting the achievements on my steam account I’ve added my steam achievements from this play through and how many hours I put into the game and the cork board in my office with the after pictures (there’s some gaps).
Overall it was fun but I don’t know if I’ll play it again but the completionist in me might change that later on I rate this game 5/10!
